Heading on to Mount Whitney

California is a really beautiful state. Once you get out of the high desert that is. So, we took off to Mount Whitney. About a three and hald hour drive from Ridgecrest and it did not dissapoint! Once we arrived at the parking lot / campgound areas, I was shocked how many people were already here so early in the morning. Every lot was full but we lucked out and found a space. Hooray!

We hiked up the trail that leads to a little lake on top of the mountain but did not make it. Too many people on the trail..kind of a bummer. Still, a really nice hike with some great company!

If you are around the Mount Whitney area, definetly a recommneded place to stay and take in the beauty. There is even a little cafe up here. The prices for food and beer are a bit much, then again, it is what one would expect for hauling all those supplies and food up the mountain.
