Nothing like California Heat!

For our first stop, I resereved a campsite in Needles, California. To her credit, my sister warned me about the heat, but I took the chance anyway. We pulled into the campsite, Desert View RV park and Campground. It is a nice enough facility with some nice amenities but........

....... folks, it was 115 degrees! I got out of my truck and threw up a little in my throat. In any case, I checked in and proceeded to our site. Once I parked, plugged in camper to get the A/C going, I knew this was not going to work. Lucious went out and tried his best to water the bushes but I am sure it evaporated once it exited his body. In any case, he was immediately suffering and so was I.

Although we had already been on the road for roughly 8.5 hours, I owned up to my error of staying here and made the decision to eat a sandwich and push on.

Another piece of happiness I forgot to mention. I topped off in flagstaff and calculated my fuel usage and decided to fill up in Needles. Huge mistake! It was 5.99 / gallon!!! One hundred and forty two American dollars to fill my truck.

Onward to Ridgecrest!
