Red Rock Canyon State Park

Our final stop on what I found out is part of the Borax 20-Mule Team route is the Red Rock State Park. This is a really large park spanning over twenty six thousand acres. Suffice it to say, we covered roughly five....ish. Like many other areas, this was once inhabited by the Kawaiisu people.Obviously over time they moved on and during the 1870's, the Borax 20-mule team rolling out from Randsburg region hauling borax used to stop here for water and rest.

Clearly the water is not as predominant as it used to be. However, during a little hike we noted lots of wet muddy areas in the shady parts. The formations are really interesting. They say in the spring, the wildflowers of purple and yellow bloom throughout this canyon.

During our trip, not so much.
